Umuntu works with highly respected and regarded Leaders and Elders within the various
African-Australian communities. The African-Australian Circle of Elders consists of various Elders
who meet regularly to discuss community matters while offering guidance on important issues
affecting African-Australian communities. They are knowledgeable and often are guardians of
traditional cultural practices, beliefs, values, and customs. They may be viewed as community
pillars.
