About Us

Umuntu Ngabantu Ltd (Umuntu) is committed to the development and wellbeing of individual and the broader African-Australian community through culturally sensitive and culturally appropriate service provision.
Umuntu/Ubuntu highlights the importance of community. Umuntu Ngabantu (a person for the people) stems from the African philosophy, umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu which means a person is a person through other persons. The philosophy reflects Umuntu as a tradition and practice that focuses on particular values, beliefs, practices, their components and methods of implementation within the broader community.
Umuntu focuses on providing support and relief to disadvantaged people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds (CALD), successful settlement and integration through community capacity building, advocacy in education and opportunities needed to become selfsufficient and build stronger communities.
Wherever possible, Umuntu has culturally competent professionals and teams recognised for their connection and belonging to culture and community. Umuntu offers integrated support across various program areas namely;
- Education and Awareness
- Family and Community Support
- Mentoring and Youth Support
- Community and Culture
- Relative, Kinship and Foster Carer Support
- Early Intervention and Family Preservation
- African-Australian Men and Women’s Groups
- African-Australian Circle of Elders

OUR VISiON
